11/08/2007 - Ottawa, ON (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Viktor Kozlov had a goal and two assists as the Washington Capitals shocked the Ottawa Senators with a 4-1 win at Scotiabank Place.
Nicklas Backstrom scored his first career goal while Tomas Fleischmann and Alexander Ovechkin also lit the lamp for the Capitals, who snapped a four-game losing streak. Olaf Kolzig made 27 saves in the win.
Daniel Alfredsson scored the lone goal while Ray Emery gave up four goals on 35 shots for the Senators, who had a franchise-record eight-game winning streak stopped and lost for just the second time (13-2-0) this season.
Ottawa came into the game with the best record in the Eastern Conference, which the team still has, while Washington came into the game ranked dead-last in the East.
After a scoreless first period, the Capitals scored three straight goals in the second to take a 3-0 lead.
Kozlov got things started during 4-on-4 play as his wrist shot found the back of the net with 7:50 left in the period.
A bit over two minutes later, Kozlov skated around the net and threw it out front. Emery tipped the puck with his stick, but it popped into the air and Backstrom tapped it into the net.
Fleischmann finished the outburst with 2:05 to play in the middle stanza when his quick wrister from the right circle made its way past Emery.
Ottawa, though, got one of the goals back with 1:11 left in the second. Dany Heatley left a drop pass for Mike Fisher in the high slot. Fisher immediately swept the puck over to Alfredsson, who one-timed it from the left circle past Kolzig.
Ovechkin's goal with 3:45 left in the third period sealed the win for Washington.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds
With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.
Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season. Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.
This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy. A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
Current betting odds Heisman trophy are:
